When leaded gas was stopped the way Gas Stations would clean the lead out of storage tanks was to fill them with Diesel, let it sit overnight, then pump it over to the diesel tanks and put unleaded gas in the former leaded gas storage tanks. The man than ran the Sinclair station in my hometown told me that is what he did and his nolead passed inspection.
ReplyDeletewow, you amaze me with historical info about a moment of gas station history, that was critical to the change in the leaded to unleaded. Pardon the textual lack of tone, because it's as easy to infer sarcasm as it is amazement, but I'm amazed. Truly. How in the world you recall that, and that I'm intrigued by it, and we only meet here on this blog by chance... astonishes me.
DeleteVery interesting history. Thanks
