According to United Utilities, the water company that will impose this latest hosepipe and water sprinkler ban, cleaning your car the old fashioned way with a bucket and sponge will still be allowed, on the basis that it “typically use[s] a fraction of the amount of water a hosepipe uses”.
It is important to point out, though, that hosepipes can’t be used to fill up the bucket. You could be fined £1,000 if caught using one during a ban.

You just gotta love privately owned water companies. Our water supply is owned by a foreign company after it was sold off by our government at a knock down price and boy did the price of water then skyrocket.
ReplyDeleteIt's in response to heatwave and drought conditions though, so a temporary measure I'm sure. Local councils did something similar in New Zealand last summer.
ReplyDeleteNothing to do with the Queen. She has no part whatsoever in local legislation, There is a temporary ban, in an attempt to reduce wastage during drought conditions and low water levels in reservoirs.
ReplyDeleteI think I should inform you, the queen is the highest ruler in the royal family, it says so, when the word "Queen" is used. If a rule is made in her country, is it not her divine will? Now, I'm an American that is of the mind that no country needs kings and queens, dukes, barons, sirs, knights, and princes. But if your country has one, don't they have the divine right over everything in the land? Including local legislation? IS the queen the last word in legislation, ruler of the empire, and all that? If not, WTF do you have one for? To waste your taxes on multiple mansions, trains, cars, yachts, horses, guards, and palaces? I will understand if you don't want to take the time to educate me on your view of the Queen. For all I know, her secret service intel MI6 is reading your computer right now. I'm quite sure there are at least 5 American govt security agencies reading mine.
