terrific tail gate design on the 2019 GMC Sierra. I predict these will be copied, stolen, or both

  1. I used to think these ideas were kind of bullshit. Then meh. Now, I'm pretty sure I'd want that if I get a new truck. The older you get the better that looks.

  2. That is pretty inventive. I do wonder why new trucks are so tall that we need what is in essence a stepladder to access the bed. We seemed to get along fine with normal height trucks for most of my life. I am sure most of these trucks never leave the pavement and have no need to have much ground clearance. I guess the bigger the truck the bigger your manhood?

    1. wow, going straight for the misandrist dig? Women seem to be preoccupied with what men do to pump their ego and macho factor far more then men do. It's pretty simple to explain the trucks size issue with facts and evidence without being sexist though... simply think of the smallest trucks, like VW rabbit trucks, Subaru Brats, etc, and then think of the big trucks, the 3500, 4500 and 5500 dually, then go even farther along to the semi / 18 wheeler. The bigger the truck the larger the payload and towing ability because they must increase the size of the tires, suspension, brakes, etc to go from 200 pound load, to 20,000 pounds.
So, more trucks now are middle of the road going for sales to the largest number of people, and that's why the average size isn't a 1980s Ranger any more, it's a big truck that a 6 foot tall guy has hop up into.

    2. You are right ,of course, although I wasn't really talking about payload , just the height off the ground. I've had a few 3/4 ton full size trucks in my life starting with a 50's Ford and never had a problem reaching in the back to get something as the bed was much closer to the ground. It is not just trucks, also gigantic SUV's, etc.It all seems a bit over the top to this old timer. I admit the manhood dig was silly,I'm sorry.

  3. I agree with Chuck. I have a bum knee and it is tough getting up an average truck bed. Getting down is just as bad. What a swell idea.

  4. It's pretty cool but I can't imagine what the ticket on something like that would be as an option. Pretty pricey I'm sure!

  5. its mostly not the height of the ground clearance,
its the bedsides keep getting taller.

I think its helps a tiny bit with the MPG
