Brake cleaner, chlorinated is preferred but that is hard to come by these days.
Use to hang out at a garage who's owner was allergic to bees and wasps... Any car that sat more than a few days, he'd make someone go out with a can of brake cleaner and check the mirrors.. You hit them mid flight, and they would be dead before they hit the ground.

Used in conjunction with a Bic barbeque lighter, yes it can...
