this was 119 years ago. They had no idea that ceramics, or carbon fiber, etc, would be the right materials for transmissions. However, I love that you thought of ceramics for this... seems to me that you nailed it, the right material for this kind of trans!
Many mowers and snowblowers have this type of transmission.
