Hagerty magazine just did a great article on Junior Johnson

I found this damn interesting:

"After getting out of jail, Junior Johnson went big-time and transported whole semis of liquor to large cities like Philadelphia.

Johnson eventually got out of moonshining and has been involved in a number of very successful businesses, including Holly Farms Chicken and a legal line of Midnight Moon moonshine. He was pardoned by President Reagan in 1986 and now enjoys special status in any automotive circle."

  1. My father was a DeKalb County police officer in the late 60s and stopped a 18 wheeler on the interstate one night to tell the driver the trailer lights were not working.

when he walked up to the cab, there was no driver, he climbed in and caught a fleeting glimpse of the driver running into the woods.
opened the trailer and it was loaded with moonshine.,all got tossed into the city trash incinerator
