1 of 59 Hemi Cuda's, 4 speed, and it's the most heavily optioned 71 hemi cuda... found in a trailer park

Muscle car review, April 2009 issue, page 18-22

Found in 1989 by then just hired editor of Muscle Car Review, Tom Shaw, the price was 2500. The sellers were behind in the payments on their Hyundai, so they sold the Cuda, which wasn't running very well, and was rusty.

It had mismatched rims, the hemi had been lost and a 340 was in the engine bay, and billboards had been hand painted on. But it still had the spoliers, the bucket seats, and the rear window slats.

"Only 107 Hemi 'Cudas rolled off the production line this model year, and of these, only 59 were equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission."

For the full gallery and write up of this car at a 2008 auction listing when it sold for 328 thou to collector Bill Sefton http://www.russoandsteele.com/collector_car/1971_plymouth_cuda_hemi_coupe/7462.html

Labor costs...GM's problems

$69 an hour for GM
$48 for Toyota...

Is it all about union contracts?

Toyota invested in the research and development of its Prius.... just about that time, Gm scrapped it's EV1 program... and launched HUMMER

Why scrap the electric car program? Because dealerships make more profit on repairs and replacement parts than they do on selling cars, and electric cars don't need transmissions, clutches, oil changes, etc etc etc. Less parts, less broken parts, less repairs. Less breakdowns = less new car purchases when the old car wears out. (who killed the electric car, the movie)

Biker believed dead, family auctioning off his classic car collection

a 1937 gold Cadillac Fleetwood used at the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge. A 1925 Nash convertible, fully restored. A shiny red 1939 Packard two-door sedan with its original interior. There are 11 in all. Many look like the gangster cars from the days of Al Capone.

But now Smith's beloved collection, potentially worth more than $1 million, is on the auction block in Calgary. (as of Jan 09 news article)

The Sun broke the news last summer that Cedric Smith, a convicted cocaine trafficker and 25-year veteran of the B.C. Hells Angels, had disappeared and was feared dead.
The last sign of life was a Visa transaction on May 21, 2008, Mark said.

"It is a nice collection. It is good," said Harold Heninger, the auctioneer selling the cars in Calgary on April 25.

Petty Enterprises

Before landing major sponsorship in 1972, the Petty Enterprises team remained very much a family-based operation.

After several years of struggle, Petty gradually stepped away from the ownership role. The investment group, Boston Ventures, purchased a majority interest in Petty Enterprises in 2008.

Just before the 2009 season, Petty agreed to merge his team with Gillett Evernham Motorsports.
The famed complex of low-slung buildings in Level Cross, N.C., that comprised Petty Enterprises is now basically a museum.

Take a 50cc scooter, get it out into the snow, now bolt on a front ski instead of a front tire

the Slidescooter was dreamt up by RiminiMoto, otherwise purveyors of fine Honda Cub accessories. Their approach really isn't more complicated than the above. The snowboard-like front track uses a ski-like snowboards cut down to fit, to provide some directional stability. It's connected to the front forks by a support that bolts in right where the axle would normally go.

Worlds largest collection of Nash/Rambler/AMC vehicles? Looks like it.

Terry's private museum is located near Denver, Colorado.

Terry writes: "I started about 12 years ago with my Dad's 54 Ambassador. I pulled it out of a field where it sat rusting away for 18 years.

It took 3 years to get it back on the road but once I drove it I was hooked and wanted more! I have about 360 cars mostly Nash, Rambler & AMC but do have a few X brand cars. I like all cars but do favor the Nash & AMC most.

I had the garage built 9 years ago to hold the 30 cars I had at the time. I started opening the garage to our local Metropolitan club for a club picnic. Many of the Met people are also in other clubs so the news traveled fast about the garage being a cool place to gather for club events. One summer I hosted 18 clubs! The Met club was here for the 8th time this summer.
I do not open the museum to the general public but car people are always welcome to visit. Feel free to e-mail or call anytime.–Terry, 303-646-9063"

How far can a train move a ton of freight on just one gallon of fuel? 422 miles? Well, that is what they claim

Diesel/Electric CSX train commercial on the radio...

You've probably seen the CSX ad where they ask "What can a car that gets 50 miles on a gallon of fuel do for the environment?" The car then drives up a ramp into a waiting railroad car.
The ad continues "Not nearly as much as the car that's carrying it. Our trains can move one ton of freight 423 miles on one gallon of fuel".
http://www.belowtopsecret.com/forum/thread342169/pg1

Thank you for your inquiry about our advertising.

Our ad states "trains can move a ton of freight 423 miles on a single gallon of fuel," and it is correct. The 423 is calculated by dividing the total tons hauled by a single freight train by the total gallons of fuel used. So, on a per mile, per ton basis, the amount of fuel needed is extremely low. In fact, it is so low that trains are between three and four times more fuel efficient than trucks.
So, even though it takes more than one gallon of fuel to power a train for 423 miles, the train actually uses less fuel than the more than 280 trucks it would take to haul the same amount of freight.

K "articulatley" comments about the comparison of the SN 95 to the Tempo, Taurus, Escort, and T-bird

Funny you claim to be a car guy and that you like muscle cars and mustangs yet you dont know what a new edge mustang is and you cant discern between the 1994-1998 mustang and the 1999-2004 mustang??

Imagine that. I'm a car guy, and don't care about new Mustangs. Oh well, I guess I'll have to rename my website now... http://hamster who doesn't measure up to K's standard for "Car guy" status.blogspot.com

K... try real hard to look past your myopic world view for a moment... there's more to the automotive world than accurately identifying the past 10 years of Mustangs. I for one, don't care if I'm off a couple years when it comes to guessing what year a car is that has been produced in the past 15 years... give or take a year is close enough when guessing the year of an uninteresting vehicle that will soon be scrapped once it's past it's warranty and gets sent to the junkyard when the last owner realizes it is junk that the factories aren't making replacement parts for. You haven't looked, but 3700 posts about every other make and model that interests me, from the moment they took the horse away from the wagon, is praised for its' design, features, manufacturing or whatever struck me as cool about it.

Sand rails, stage coaches, trains, electric buggies, tool wars, airplanes, monster trucks, front end loaders, top fuelers, sports cars, 10 speeds, musclecars, Holdens/Commodores/Monaros, 3 wheeled post WW2 econo cars, concept cars and motorcycles.... and a lot of other stuff just as diverse is all over this website. I haven't claimed to be the automotive encyclopedia of all things with motors since the 1885 Benz,... but I know of, appreciate, and can identify more than you'll ever see in your "Capt me planet" world. I've wrenched on, restored, raced, helped with, and fixed and maintained more, so far, then you ever will.

A new edge mustang is the 1999-2004 Mustang. My car that you posted a picture of is a 2002 Mustang, so therefore my car is a New edge mustang...still with me here smart guy??

Yeah, this is the cool part where I learn trivia that no one cares about, has ever heard of, or will ever want to know... go on...

I used 99' as my reference because thats when it was introduced and Ford sharply

No, not sharply.

changed the look

No it didn't. The change from the 1964-69 to the 1970-72 was a change. The 76 vs a 67 is a change, the 76 vs an 89 is a change. etc etc. The 99 to 00 wasn't a change of any significance to the look of the Mustang.

of the mustang, all the rounded lines became hard lines, the headlights became one piece, the body got bigger and performance numbers increased. I understand it was even more of a drastic change when the 2005 came out as it was a bold retro style and made a huge impression.

Wow, you made sense about something, finally.

Reiterating here; My body style is the new edge style, its a 2002 mustang which you used, backed by a picture of my car as an example of the 94-98 that you think looks a lot like Fords other designs....youre stupid.

And yet I place apostrophes correctly when I abbreviate, how about that wunderkind? youre or you're? get it? Nevermind, you have no idea where the apostrophe is on your keyboard it seems.

If you had taken a picture of a 94-98 I could actually kinda see what youre (!) talking about by them using other ideas from lesser ford vehicles, but I would like you to show me one car maker, any car maker that doesnt use the same ideas in all of their models

Sit down, schools in sucker....

Dodge. Charger, Magnum, Challenger, Viper, Caliber. All distinctly 2009 models, and exceptionally different in their appearances. Not misidentifiable with each other. You would like me to show you? Really? Didn't you ever learn not the tease the animals when you are in the cage? Mopar... Massively Over Powered And Respected.

....theres isnt one, everyone, especially domestic automakers use similar faces in their lineups.

Well, Dodge for one.

I understand youre upset for making an incorrect statement by putting my 2002 as an example of the 94-98 mustang,

No, I used it as an example of the cookie cutter, bar of soap design that is similar to the other 4 cars I mentioned. I doubt you've even seen a Tempo... or know that an '84 diesel Tempo was good for 52 mpg... but that is why I'm a car guy, and you are upset over not understanding that I haven't criticized your particular car, just it's design. And I used your car as an example of the SN95 design, not the 94-98 Mustangs... but I know you aren't exactly paying attention... or using your apostrophe... so whatever

but to to go on and on and on about it like youre right and to now even show a picture of a red 94-98 Mustang

It's what Google had as an example of a 2002 Mustang... and I think it looks just like yours, so if it's a '97 do I care? No. Looks the same as the Tempo, the T-bird, the Escort, the Taurus... and your car. Minus the approx. dozen lights you've replaced the factory lighting with.

which is clearly not my car is even more ridiculous. I didnt say I was ready to fight you,

I didn't state that you had said you were. I clearly ascribed you with the traits I find amusingly stupid and over the top things... you don't seem to have a problem being described as all the rest... hmmm.

I would never say something like that on the net or in person over something like this. I dont get into fistfights over BS like this, and I would never threaten someone on the net or encite them to fight because thats shameful behavior to myself and especially to my car club Stangpede, were bigger more mature people than that. I didnt come unglued or enraged as you so ignorantly stated, I just articulatley

All right, I can't refrain from laughing about that... do try to spell "articulatley" correctly if you are going to use it to prop up your intelligence!

told you to go get f*cked

Just 11 words ago you claimed to not be unglued or enraged... do try for consistency when interacting with strangers, hmmm?

for being wrong and acting like youre right

My opinion is right. To me. Yours doesn't in this matter as you're not ready to debate the issues you can't emotionally cope with about my opinions on automotive design. You still seem to find me criticizing your car, I'm not. I criticize you, since you aren't "articulatley" debating this, or functioning very well without meds, but that is just my sense of humor getting the better of me.

and for personally insulting me and calling me a woman without provocation.

You are correct finally! I didn't have any provocation, and then you are wrong, I didn't call you a woman. I mentioned that you should take care not to get your dress caught in the door, or let your high heels damage the Mustang carpet. Well, you are getting better than always being wrong... so a point for you.

I stated my case and made points to show you that you were wrong, yet you are sitting back saying youre right. This is your blog and youre entitled to your own opinion either way but get your facts straight

Well, you aren't very good at it or I would say you were right, I don't think you have come into the right playing field to show me that I'm wrong. I'm never wrong, I thought I was once, but I was mistaken. (this was a tshirt saying my grandpa had... still is funny)
Yes it is, and you can have one too, for free, and do anything you want to with it and if tempermental but delicately sensitive, hair trigger emotional, ready to go off the deep end at commentary by automotive design enthusiasts..... if they happen to find that you post something that hurts their little feelings and you don't have a lollypop to make them happy with? Well I advise make light of the whole idiotic situation and foil it all with humor for the rest of the amused people who were laughing but are now bored of it all.

and quit trying to act like Johnny Badass

That's Jesse badass to you, precious, or you may call me Mr. Jesse Badass when I'm setting you straight

when someone doesnt agree with you and proves you wrong and makes you look like the idiot you are

Well, that isn't proven, and you seem to me to look like a bigger idiot. I'm enjoying your commentary, and it gives me something to post about ranting (I find ranting amusing, Dennis Leary, Dennis Miller.. ) without having to use the cool stuff I've got waiting to post.

on your own blog, ya it sucks, you were wrong and youre immature

No doubt, I still play with toys. Bigger and better than yours, appreciating in value, not losing value... like yours. More appreciatated than yours, and ready to attend car shows, car cruises, drag races, and it will be appreciated by many more people who see your belly button, cookie cutter car as less interesting than my bonafide rare factory original trak pak option muscle car, that has bucket seats, a Hurst shifter, a factory race engine that's been improved with more rare factory optional cool stuff like a one of 1200 factory Edelbrock intake with the Holley six pack... and has tripled in value due to the demand by collectors for just such factory produced muscle from 1969. If you had a r code mustang, you would have my interest. You don't. For all I know you've got a 6 cyl. with a dressed up exterior

but youre just going to have to get over it. Oh and I have seen your car now and it looks like every other squared off box on wheels of that era,
Well, again, you started off with a correct fact... it's like every other squared off box on wheels of it's era... every Mopar B body, C-body, and lots of FoMoCo and GM cars in the late 60's were indistinguishable to the common person not interested in cars.

its nothing special
Really? Sure about that? Nothing special? You might want to get some opinions from other people, anyone who likes cars in general will tell you that you are wrong, I believe. The make and model specific people might too, but the general advocates and enthusiasts will tell you you are wrong about the special factor

and youre nothing unique,

Well, you are wrong there. You know just about nothing about me, and since I'm the one with a website... I'm a little unique. About 1 percent of the planets population.. so you may want to brush up on the dictionary a bit... try starting with "unique"
All the things I've done in the past 20 years, if you had any awareness of them, would prove you wrong as well. Just owning my muscle car makes me unique. You owning a 2002 Mustang makes you one of about 142,000 people http://www.yellowmustangregistry.com/Production02.html with the same car under your butt. And 95% of you will sell your 2002 Mustang soon, as it will not interest you as much as the next belly button cookie cutter car.

you and your car are just as common as any guy and his mustang

The production of 1969 Mopars like mine... 1400. Roughly. Shelby made more Mustangs that year. Now... that is uncommon. You ought to use that dictionary to reacquaint yourself with the definition of "common", as you are using the antonym of it. Here's a dictionary... use it. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/antonym

at any auto show all across america, youre not that freakin special, get over yourself and grow up.

And have a nice day.

A comment from Hendrix.

"As a old school car enthusiast from the Motor City thanks for expressing yourself and keeping the passion alive. It doesn't matter if we agree or disagree it's good that we have the passion to speak our minds." Hendrix

Thanks.
Keep the shiny side up, and the rubber on the road.

Uh oh, I pushed somebodys button... everybody be on the lookout for a hostile Mustang owner... it's web rage! Run for your lives!

The above Mustang... is the pride and joy, maybe even great accomplishment and weekend race car, of one:
torqued off,
spun up,
stressed out,
over caffeinated,
ready to fight,
ain't taking no crap from nobody,
quoter of facts, and timelines of Fords models of the 90's.

But the owner of the above Mustang, was so mad from the moment that he didn't see a compliment about his Mustang, he went right off the deep end.
Step back from the energy drinks, put down the big book of Ford, and ask someone else to translate. Not Jerry though, he's not bright enough to discern that the car you own wasn't insulted, not were you, in my comparison of the model (sn95) you brought to the event... when I compared the (sn95) old design to the new design (s197).

If anyone cares to waste their time on this, I gave my opnion that the (sn95) design is a cookie cutter design by Ford, and similar to the Tempo, the T-bird, and the Taurus. They are all bar of soap designs. I'm not alone in that opinion, or in my opinion that you lost your mind when you weren't up to the challenge of reading comprehension of what I wrote. So I reposted it, and your comment. And then I re-explained my self. And you re-lost your mind. Really came unglued there... wow. A saying comes to mind... shattered. As in delicate personality that is shattered like a light bulb with the loud POP sound the moment something pushes it's button. Clean up on aisle Ford, a pile of molecules that used to be someones pride needs a dustbuster STAT!

You don't need to come unglued, unless your feelings were that hurt. Appearances matter to some, and it appears that you take my critique of Fords' design of the sn95 Mustang personally... this amused me to tweak your nose about it, (still does) and I poke fun at you for being so sensitive and tender... that you need to be awarded with a flower holder from a VW beetle to put on the steering column of your car.

I'm not a reviewer, (in my opinion) I'm a auto enthusiast who uses a camera, a laptop, and a forum of my creation to entertain my friends. Well, that was what I did 2 1/2 years ago, and somehow over time, all the rest of the 600-700 people a day started looking in and enjoying what I do, and I've gotten a lot of praise for doing it. You might be amused to know I've learned a lot by looking up a lot of info to add to this website, and it's amazing how much cool stuff there is everywhere that I put here, just for a couple of friends that didn't want me flooding their email with. Now, when they want to, they look here for what I was emailing them.

Due to the technology of Google, emails, and the internet, a lot of other people I never have met have also been enjoying this stuff I post. That's real cool.

You are welcome. And I thank you! I sincerely appreciate being corrected by people who know stuff. I actually looked up the Mustang models for that post, but didn't recall the number 95 correctly and was typing 94 through the whole thing.

I just clicked and posted really quick, didnt do anonymous for any fear reasons by any means. I dont understand why you feel the need to insult and call me a dress wearing woman because I didnt post my name....but my name is (withheld to protect the identity during google searches) . I dont see what name posting proves, I dont think it proves manhood and I definitely dont think insulting someone who hasnt insulted me proves anything either, ( Really? You sure about that? Cause you are about to go off on a major rant! )but you do apparently, youre such a big man, ooh im so impressed you can trash talk on the net, wow your testosterone jock strap must be overflowing, should I just pack my makeup and tampons and go home since your SO much more of a man than I am or do you think you can pull your head out of your ass for one second to have an intelligent conversation?? You want to talk literal facts, that neither of the cars you stated look anything like a 99 and up Mustang. ( 1995 to 2004 is what I am asserting, I've got no idea where you found 99 and up ) In fact none of fords line looked like the new edge stang ( what is a new edge stang? ), tempos were discontinued in 1994 and replaced by the contour...5 years before the new edge mustang even came around, and the Thunderbird was discontinued in 1997 two years before the introduction of the new edge and then reintroduced ( I never referred to the retro T-bird ) in 2002 only to end again in 2005, the out going model didnt look like a new edge mustang and the 2002 was round and had a retro style which looked even further from a new edge mustang, do you want me to keep going and prove you even more wrong?? I didnt think so, get your facts straight and your eyes checked before you go comparing cars that look nothing like eachother to one another and hurling ( hurling? Really? )insults for no reason. (the reason is to poke fun at you for losing your mind at my comparison of 1990's Ford design department not having variety, instead you took it personally... you didn't design the Tempo, t-bird, Taurus, and sn95 Mustang did you? So glue yourself back together, take a breath, and lay off the caffeine for a little while... it's not good for you evidently )What is it that you drive that gives you such a sense of individuality and uniqueness???? ( ummm, you haven't looked at this website very much... try something new, try looking at the rest of the website, it compliments a lot of Mustangs, the club you belong to, racing stripes, aftermarket headlights, and even some SN95 Mustangs... but my muscle car is described right here on this top page, and photographs of my car are posted at least 3 times in the past 30 months and I point out that it's mine) ( and it isn't what I drive, it's what I have done since highschool that has brought about my sense of individuality and uniqueness ) I will be at next months (april) cars and coffee if youd like me to bring charts and graphs of how wrong you are by ford statistic and timelines of their vehicles and just how far your head is up your ass please let me know. Thanks tough guy!
12:14 PM
I'll see that challenge, and post right here my comparison of the bar of soap cookie cutter cars. I don't do charts and graphs in person.... they rattle around in the enormous cavern of a trunk my musclcar has. Plus, reading comprehension has proven to be too much for some ( not you of course ) people, so I'll use photos of the cars instead.

Ok? You just stay right there in front of your computer, and use a big towel to take care of the rabid frothing your anger is probably causing. Your opinion is already made up, but for the rest of the world that is laughing hysterically at what a dweeb you are acting like, due to your jumping the gun to be insulted over Fords designs... and not like Jerry states, the lack of insults about your customizations to your Mustang. I like the racing stripe actually, not that you asked.
The only difference that can be quickly made of the above random selection of T-bird, Escort, Taurus, Tempo, and Mustang... is that the Mustang photographer took the time to put a wallpaper behind the stang, and the designers gave the Mustang fake brake air scoops in the quarter panels, and auxillary driving lights. Big deal. Ask people who don't give a damn, and they can't name the above cars, try it. Show them to teenagers, senior citizens, or all the rest of the world who hasn't owned a Ford.

Hey Big Red

I took those photos of your Windsor last Nov.... sort of behind the Corvette diner. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/11/i-stumbled-across-this-forgotten.html
