The Grand Tour’s new hosts are announced, but does it even matter? They can't replace Hammond, Clarkson and May. Top Gear tried that, and failed, twice.

YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, best known for their motoring content, as well as social media star and train enthusiast Francis Bourgeois, will front the revamped version of the Prime Video series.

Holland and Engelsman are the duo behind Throttle House, a popular automotive YouTube channel known for its car reviews and track tests.

Holland joked: “When I first heard they were rebooting The Grand Tour and replacing Clarkson Hammond and May, I said, ‘Only a moron would take that job.’”

  1. They just need to end all of this. The original trio made the shows.

    1. You're right, they had the goofiness, the humor, and the cleverness to pull off a fun, smart, enjoyable show. It's rare to get that level of talent who likes each other though all the challenges, the heat, sweat, deserts, swamps, and foreign country adventures in yurts and RVs. Probably only a couple groups have ever had the chemistry to pull it off, Tim Conway, Harvey Corman, and Carol Burnett - Sinatra, Martin, and Davis

    2. to try and make a go of putting on a show isn't a crime, but using the legacy of the greats to wrap your attempt at imitating something they made? I can't respect it, and the wasted efforts of the Top Gear remakes? I can't see that the guys involved in those are showing any pride that they tried it, or have related any pride that they were involved in Top Gear USA. That was a dud, they did it for the fame and money, not the adventure and creation of something cool.
