1924 Lanchester 40HP Coronation Coach made for the Sir Jai Prabhakar Singh, Maharaja of the 15 gun salute state of Alwar. so popular that it was featured in the American magazine ‘Popular Mechanics’ of October 1924.

Interestingly in 1925(?) the most regal thing you could do is replace those old stinky, jittery horses with a modern internal combustion powered drivetrain to draw your carriage. Now owning and maintaining horses is one of the leading indicators of conspicuous consumption. I don't expect to live long enough for my rattle-trap Coast to Coast bicycle to telegraph status. ...Well, maybe it is telegraphing my lower middle income status, I guess.
