Fwiw, the other reasons that I think it's incredible that my paternal grandfather bought this, and was a hell raiser in a little town in Michigan, is that you aren't even aware how middle of damn nowhere Sidnaw is... and to realize a guy THERE!!?? bought this, and was running around, inspiring a new generation of wild young men heading to Vietnam, with this sports car?
See what I mean about middle of nowhere, now? Take and look at how far it is from ANY interstate.
So, another reason I think that it's incredible, is that I didn't hear a hint about that GT 350 until 2009. I was around 38, and a cousin mentioned it, and no one had a photo, and I called a meeting (as it were) of the cousins and made sure they realized how dang interested I was in seeing just ONE photo of it.
Seriously, how does a car nut on the level I am, never hear that his dad's dad bought and drove a GT 350?
Eventually, one was found, by accident. I've been to Lake Gogobic. You are correct there is a lot of nothing up there. My wife has people on the north shore of Lake Superior, and it is a long haul to get there. Beautiful area though.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! I've been fishing on Lake Gogebic! Walleye season opening day is always the one day my step dad wanted to go fishing there. I think I was there 3 times, 2 of those were FREEZING cold! Only one time was a really enjoyable day for the temps, and I never did catch diddly squat. That 4am nonsense is for the birds.
DeleteDo you remember the tagged Walleye fishing competition? They had a couple, maybe 10, that had a top fin tagged with some colorful thing, and if you caught one, it was worth a hundred bucks, or a thousand, I can't recall which.
We did catch one that had a colorful thing, and we flipped out... then we saw it was some damn fishing lure that wasn't the official doo dad. Sure had us going though.
