Did you avoid Nam? 19 years old and heading out for 300 some miles, did you get to pick up any pretty young hitchhikers? Have any adventures?Jessehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18429349943129907930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37353682.post-22330334839951346722021-02-04T08:20:38.176-08:002021-02-04T08:20:38.176-08:00I 1969 at 19 I had just finished a Ca. to New York...I 1969 at 19 I had just finished a Ca. to New York trip on my first bike a 650 Thunderbolt BSA. I thought I wanted to be a mechanic and wrote a letter to 5 or 6 shops in the San Gabriel Valley saying I would work for almost free just to learn. Sam hired me. He was a very imposing guy but I later learned had a heart of gold. He put me with his ace engine builder who wanted no part of me.I there learned to build bottom ends and nothing else for months. At some point Burt showed up to work on his "45 on the way to Bonneville. I had know Idea who he was until 30rs. later reading a review of the fastest Indian. I was blown away by the portrayal of Burt by Anthony Hopkins, he nailed it.Hope you enjoyed this little tale.<br />Steve PondickAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15889149524987110804noreply@blogger.com
