During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[11]

Byrd later called joining the KKK "the greatest mistake I ever made."[20] In 1997, he told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics but also warned, "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena."[21] In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[22] Byrd also said in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."[11]Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11446387470419012485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37353682.post-1528459743119453292018-12-05T01:27:18.391-08:002018-12-05T01:27:18.391-08:00Like the cockroach the KKK just will not go away. ...Like the cockroach the KKK just will not go away. Some say that Democrats form 20's were more Republican then Republicans today. But I'm not that fluent with US political scene of Interwar times. But I do know that trying to look at past by prism of today is wrong perception. Things change, point of view also. Something that was "white" 100 years ago, today is "black". Something that was "black" today can be "purple" tomorrow. World don't stay in one place, everything change and in the same time, nothing change. Well... that escalate to philosophy pretty fast. :D Shashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06772329154615576984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37353682.post-85513204059913156702018-12-04T17:25:17.826-08:002018-12-04T17:25:17.826-08:00Senator Robert Byrd from Virginia was a high ranki...Senator Robert Byrd from Virginia was a high ranking KKK member,
but since he was a liberal democrat, the media ignored it.userbroncohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07564803379372058829noreply@blogger.com
