When new General Schaefer's daughter Suzie witnesses Jeannie doing magic in all her silk chiffon glad glory, Suzie blackmails Maj. Nelson into letting her hippie boyfriend Harold live with him (temporarily). Under threat of being exposed to his superior officer, Maj. Nelson allows Suzie and Harold to wreak havoc on him for about two days. During this time Jeannie (getting wrapped up in the fun of it all) paints Maj. Nelson's car in a hippie flower child pattern with the slogan "Make love, not war!" This doesn't go over well at NASA with Dr. Bellows and the new general.

SO there you go, the car was washed off (tempera paints were used) and the car resumed it's normal look by the end of the episode. Oh, she was a favorite of mine, that show's concept of a magic beautiful woman that could make anything happen? That was just brain candy to me as a little kid in the 70s. I was 5 or 6 when I started watching that show... there were some cool and marvelous tv shows back then, the Munsters, Jeannie, Land of the lost! It was a good time to be innocent, and ignorant of the shitty world. Just a dumb kid and a tv show about a magic genie, and saturday morning cartoons. I didn't have a great childhood, but for a moment, it was ideal - and nothing burst the bubble of ignorance. It was leave it to beaver, lassie, and Roy Rodgers, you know?
