It turns out, there are plenty of idiots in the California state legislature, and they were sure that they could force drivers to go electric car by 2035

and push the issue by making a law that would require no internal combustion engine vehicles would be sold in California after 2035.

This is exactly the same idiocy that passed a law that would require that only 40 or 50 mpg cars could be sold in California after 2008.

Yes, nearly 20 years ago the green morons had passed a law that was obviously decades before it's time, and had to be thrown in the dumpster when reality could no longer be avoided.

Now the federal DOT is taking California to court to get that 2035 law thrown out, based on their point of view that no state gets to set fuel economy standards.

E-ZPass transponders are phasing out. The same function can be served by a sticker, for millions of dollars less every year

Massachusetts state transportation officials have confirmed they are transitioning away from traditional hard-case E-ZPass transponders and replacing them with low-cost windshield sticker tags — a move expected to save millions of dollars annually.

Allstate got caught illegally tracking drivers through their cellphones without consent by monitoring their travel locations, trip distances, speed, acceleration, braking, phone usage and attention to the road, and tried to monetize that data to boost profit.

Allstate must face a privacy lawsuit accusing the home and auto insurer of illegally tracking drivers through their cellphones without consent, using their data to raise premiums or deny coverage, and selling the data to other insurers.

In a decision on Tuesday, US District Judge Jeremy Daniel in Chicago said drivers in the proposed class action can try to prove that Allstate violated the Federal Wiretap Act by monitoring their travel locations, trip distances, speed, acceleration, braking, phone usage and attention to the road, and tried to monetize that data to boost profit.

According to the complaint, Arity’s tracking software was integrated into apps such as Fuel Rewards, GasBuddy, Life360 and Allstate-owned Routely.

The Iowa House advanced a bill Monday that would allow farmers to disable the diesel exhaust fluid, or DEF, systems required by federal emissions laws.

the proposed legislation is a “farmer affordability bill” that allows producers to “repair and alter their equipment” and “remove the diesel emission systems if they so choose.”

The federal Clean Air Act requires most on-road and off-road diesel engines to have diesel exhaust fluid and systems that cause the engines to “de-rate” or slow down drastically when the fluid runs out. Wulf called the DEF systems, which help to limit the emissions of nitrogen oxides from the diesel engines, a “costly and burdensome” requirement from previous administrations. The regulation was implemented in 2010, but the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Trump administration is working to modify the required derating principles.

Similarly, there is an area in California that exempts farmers from the requirement to have clean burning tractors, I was just talking to a guy about it, he's been working with atmosphere monitoring equipment for 20 years.

i am IMPRESSED with the new features in the EBY cattle trailer

Skip the 1st 14 minutes to get to the trailer, skip to 15:30 to get to the slam gate. That's one sweet user friendly gate!
Skip to 18:00 to see what's impressed me the most, the slam gate with slider door

It's a hell of a nice design!

this guy had style, and a LOT of talent. If you dig art, you'll probably enjoy the work after the 6 minute mark

what is cooler and more interesting to find on the walk... a neglected 68 Mustang? Or a 912 Porsche?

according to Google Street View, it's been in that spot, under a car cover, for over 12 years.

In 1967, the primary difference between the Porsche 911 and 912 was the engine: the 911 used a 2.0L flat-six (~130hp), while the 912 used a 1.6L flat-four (~90hp) derived from the 356SC. The 912 was roughly 200 lbs lighter, better balanced, and more fuel-efficient, offering a more agile driving experience compared to the faster, more powerful 911.

the 911 had 5 gauges and carpet, the 912 had 3 and rubber floor mats

911s often had superior braking (ventilated vs. solid rotors on the 912) and different sway bars.

mot boring thing I saw on tonight's walk was this Ranchero under a car cover

I think it's a Ranchero, not an El Camino, because of the FAT ASS on either side of the tail gate. If I recall right, that was the mid 70s influence of the Gran Torino

what an unusual mediocre car, that's so surprising to see, probably due to so few selling, and the very unusual circumstances of anyone bothering to keep on rust free and on the road - a Chevelle Malibu Classic... probably mid 70s?

equally  interesting, the license plate. This is a sign that someone had a license plate handed to them by the DMV, without paying for a vanity plate, that was 247 MTV (24 hours a day, 7 days a week, watching MTV)

seen on tonight's walk, a couple trucks that probably remind a few of you of the 70s or 80s

Pre DEF mopar, might have that Cummings diesel engine that's preferred over the gas engines

A 26-year-old from Tijuana was caught and arrested for attempting to smuggle 1,000 pounds of liquid methamphetamine inside the fuel tank of a tractor trailer, into the United States.

During an inspection of the vehicle, a CBP officer spotted a white crystalline substance on top of the passenger-side fuel tank. Further inspection led officers to 29 buckets’ worth of liquid concealed inside the tank,

A white crystalline powder was seen on the passenger-side fuel tank that prompted the further inspection of the vehicle’s gas tanks at the Otay Mesa Import Cargo Facility on March 2, 2026.

Court rules red-light camera law unconstitutional, dismisses ticket

A Broward County judge has dismissed a red-light camera ticket, ruling that the state law used to issue the citation improperly shifts the burden of proof onto vehicle owners.

Automated cameras captured a vehicle entering an intersection against a red signal. The defendant argued the statute unconstitutionally requires the registered owner to prove they were not driving — instead of requiring the government to prove who was behind the wheel.

Bridges might get monitored for degradation and deformation by satellite monitoring, and if the claims of millimeter movements being measured are accurate, you can bet Big Brother of any country with a satellite, or a good hacker of info, can read the date off a dime in the dirt in your backyard

In a study of 744 bridges across the globe, an international team found that by combining radar and satellite imaging into risk calculations, engineers can identify which bridges are at risk of structural damage long before such damage occurs.

The researchers revealed it can complement traditional inspections by detecting millimeter-scale displacement on the structure caused by all the vagaries of time, decay, and nature. Such a solution could change how infrastructure is protected worldwide: monitoring bridge stability from space to detect problems before they become disasters.

They also revealed that the structures in North America are in the poorest condition, followed by those in Africa. While North American bridges are in poorer shape due to most being built in the 1960s, they still benefit from visual inspections by trained professionals.

“For bridges specifically, MT-InSAR allows for more frequent deformation measurements across the entire infrastructure network, unlike traditional inspections, which typically occur only a few times per year and require personnel on the ground.”

Thank you Steve!

Honda Cancels Three EVs, Posts First Annual Loss, upwards of $16 billion in losses, including about $7 billion for the current fiscal year, which will represent the company's first-ever loss in its history.

Stellantis posted a substantial $26 billion loss for 2025 and intends to scale back its EV ambitions. Similarly, Nissan is far from a healthy company, with its CEO going so far as to not rule out selling the entire company. Following in their footsteps is Honda, which just announced an end to its American EV program and a pivot to hybrids, in addition to a major financial loss.
