at least they are trying to drive them

they insisted on going out without something ahead of them to plow out the road, and spent the whole day getting each other unstuck. Not a smart way to enjoy the ride.

Jack Hurt, Cobra racer, helmet from 1968

Chloroethane, commonly known as ethyl chloride once widely used in producing tetraethyllead, a gasoline additive. was also used as a topical anesthetic to instantly numb skin, as a refrigerant, and an industrial solvent

It causes temporary drunkenness, lack of coordination, and potential liver or kidney damage if inhaled

So, why put that on your helmet?

the DOJ says retailer violated federal law protecting servicemembers by repossessing cars without required judicial approval

Federal officials accused CarMax of violating the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) by seizing vehicles owned by members of the armed forces without first obtaining court approval.

"Federal law prohibits businesses from repossessing service members’ vehicles without a court order," Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon said. "The Department of Justice is proud to defend the rights of those who serve in our military and will continue to vigorously enforce the laws that protect them."

between March 1, 2018, and at least Oct. 24, 2023, affecting at least 28 service members. Each is entitled to a minimum payment of $15,000, plus lost equity in the vehicle and interest on that amount.

In addition to compensating affected service members, the company will pay a $79,380 civil penalty to the U.S., according to the DOJ.

CarMax – which did not admit or deny the allegations – agreed to revise its policies and procedures to better protect the rights of U.S. service members.

£1.8 million worth of gold bars discovered at the airport, and seized by police,

Officers stopped a man carrying the bars in his hand luggage as he prepared to fly abroad in May 2025, and a court ordered that the £1.8 million worth of gold bars can be retained by police under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

1961 Chrysler Turboflite concept

It had huge throttle and brake pedals, which took up all the footwell. No footrest, you had to use the brake pedal instead.

the pedals were designed oversize; with no dead pedal so a driver had no choice but to rest both feet on the pedals, an odd design that Chrysler insisted would help reduce reaction time by forcing a driver to brake with his left foot.

The massive rear wing acted as a crude sort of airbrake

The air brake was more than just a gimmick. Turbine engines, such as the third-generation CR2A used in the Turboflite, provided virtually no compression braking when the throttle was released. Instead, all reduction in forward motion essentially came from the car’s hydraulic brakes, so the air brake was seen as a necessary addition to reduce brake fade on repeated high-speed stops.

the 97 Firehawk was a rare Firebird that a lot of people might not remember, made by SLP Engineering but sold through Pontiac's official dealer network, that had a special engine (the ZR1 Vette motor)

SLP took Firebird Formulas and fitted them with a range of goodies. Earlier LT1 cars got a lightweight composite hood with functional ram air scoops, plus Corvette cold air induction, which apparently lifted power by 25 horsepower. Later, a Level II Bilstein Sport Suspension Package and Torsen Limited Slip Differential were added, as well as parts to make the Firehawks stand out.

The 1997 models came fitted with the LT4 V8 out of the Corvette Grand Sport, which makes it extra special. The fast-revving LT4 in the Firehawk has 330 horsepower. These engines have reworked ports, increased-flow-rate injectors, a high-lift cam, larger valves, plus the benefit of higher-compression pistons. SLP Engineering managed to get hold of the last 150 of these blueprint units, says Motor Trend, fitting them to a few 30th-anniversary Camaros, and keeping the rest for Firehawks. The fitment of a Borg-Warner six-speed is the cherry on the cake for this '90s modern classic muscle car.

It's worth noting that all 29 LT4 Firebird Firehawks were outfitted with the Six-Speed manual. The same is true for all 100+ Camaros rolling with the LT4 engine that year.
