If you take the time to read those pesticides... or just look at the last one, 40% Arsenic Oxide
Interesting wheelbarrow design on the right
red rubber toilet plungers... have been around FOREVER!
I've never heard of a shutter dog
Remember some of those key shapes
a great selection of garage door designs, I like the one that rolls sideways down the garage wall
Ever heard of the tv show "Get Smart" cone of silence? Did it get it's name from the "Dome of Silence?"
and this was mail order toilet paper for residential or commercial
how nuts are the contents of a hardware catalog when there is a bottle of golf ball white?
I only ever heard of Ray O Vac batteries... wall putty? huh!
like I said, everything had asbestos
I had to look up Fitch Hair... it's weasel/stoat/ferret/polecat, does anyone want to guess how many critters they had to shave to make paintbrushes in mass production
How the hell did they get badgers to sit still in the barbers chair for a close enough shave to make paint brushes?
ever heard of a ladder jack?
or these ladder steps for round rungs?
And it wasn't called a beer tap, it was known as a "wood faucet"
imagine a gas powered clothes iron? and they weren't called clothes irons... they were "sad irons"
I imagine if these were effective, they would still be commonly used, ergo they weren't because they aren't or inversely, aren't because they weren't
I was fascinated by these... I haven't seen any in use since the 70s
song restorer? How about that... anyone that has a bird, would want them noisier?
another one I looked up, they used cuttlefish bones for bird food. how the hell did they get rid of enough cuttlefish carcasses to get a good supply of ground bones?

I also immediately thought of Cone of Silence when I saw dome of silence! And sad iron? That must be describing those who had to use them. Great, fascinating, and interesting stuff here!
ReplyDeleteDic-A-Doo! I used to buy that product. Am I old? As for the Highway Flares, we called them smudge pots and rightly so. When you get a link to where I can but a cuspidor brush, by all means, send it to me. My brush is so worn out. Great fun and interesting items. Thanks for continuing this series on the catalog. If I need an item in a hurry, can it be sent overnight via Railway Express?
ReplyDeletesuch fun interesting stuff... that I made long posts, and it's taken way too long to get to this point, and I still have a couple dozen things to post, including dynamite.
