1965 Sunbeam Tiger was 2,500lbs, powered by a 260 cu in, 164 hp Ford with a two-barrel carb, a mild cam and 2.88 gears. But it had a lot of potential

Fortunately, the American Hot Rod Association (AHRA) allowed modifications within their XL Production Sports category.

This Tiger ran in the XF/A Foreign Sports class and did quite well.

The factory optional equipment included a 715-cfm Holley four-barrel carb, a solid lifter cam and 3.73 gears.

At the end of 1965 Gordon Chittenden of Glendora California was the AHRA national record holder in XF/A with a 14.35 at 98.46 mph.

Gord did get the car down to 13.52 by the end of '65
