1985, the dozer went in, and never came out, of Witch Lake... they were laying cable for the ELF project.... Extreme Low Frequency, comms with subs (yeah, we could receive that under water, 1/2 the planet away in the Pacific)
Seems they did not know about making pads, or they would have built a caisson, and gotten that out of there in about a day
