something weird going on with side mirrors, this is the 2nd brass colored one I've seen in two days.. both drivers side mirrors. Anyone know if this is a thing?
See the difference easily in comparison between these two cars
It's a failure of the reflective coating (silvering) on the inside of the glass. Ancient history, but I used to see a lot of this on 80's and 90's GM cars with heated (de-icing) mirrors. I'm guessing it's the same issue as some engineer fails to learn from history and simply repeats old mistakes.
I think you are looking at self-regulating heating sheet in the glass. Mirror de-icing, de-frosting, and de-dewing. Ford offered a version called Insta-clear windshield de-icing which used a self-regulating electric heating pad between the layers of glass. It had a goldy tint to it. It worked Meh for a lot of $s and ludicrous to replacement costs.
