  1. I would call it a "cutaway". Neat pic in any case.

  2. I’m not sure how much detail was offered in the Facebook article (I don’t have an account, thus I couldn’t pre-read the info there) but the Ardun heads allowed conversion of the stock Ford ‘Flathead’ V-8 engines into an overhead valve (OHV) design with hemispherical combustion chambers (a.k.a. a ‘Hemi.’) This yielded a considerable increase in power output and hence in performance.

The name ‘Ardun’ was a portmanteau of Arkus-Duntov, the family name of the principals of the company, brothers Zora and Yura Arkus-Duntov. Zora gained fame later as the ‘Father’ of the performance-oriented Chevrolet Corvette sports car.

Nice cross-sectional graphic of the modified V-8.

    Thanks!

    1. thanks... lol, but did you look to see what I'd posted in the past 20 years? Or did you just see what the rest of the internet had? tsk, (walks away, hands in pockets, looking at the ground, kicks a can) https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=ardun

    2. My apologies! - I didn’t comment in order to offend or steal a spotlight. I had not looked up your earlier material which of course I see is substantial and genuinely interesting. I have only been following your blog for perhaps over a year now so my historic recall of past material here is limited. My comments were offered to summarize a couple of historical points related to the topic at hand that other readers may find interesting and might be new to them and in turn may encourage them to find out more. Again, apologies.

    3. no apology needed, I was joking, and started the reply with "thanks, LoL"
I've been poking fun at people for about a decade when they tell me about info they find somewhere else, and I've already posted it, sometimes better.
Did you see the post about the origin of the heads? Garbage trucks! Blew my mind when I found that!
