and push the issue by making a law that would require no internal combustion engine vehicles would be sold in California after 2035.
This is exactly the same idiocy that passed a law that would require that only 40 or 50 mpg cars could be sold in California after 2008.
Yes, nearly 20 years ago the green morons had passed a law that was obviously decades before it's time, and had to be thrown in the dumpster when reality could no longer be avoided.
Now the federal DOT is taking California to court to get that 2035 law thrown out, based on their point of view that no state gets to set fuel economy standards.
I love watching people's heads explode when they see things like "outlaw ICE cars by 2035". When a politician talks about ANYTHING more than five years away they're just pandering to small extremist views while leaving plenty of time to quietly back away from absolutist statements after the spotlight fades. Remember, you can always tell when a politician is lying - their lips are moving!
ReplyDeletei realized years ago that the idea of putting something off until you're out of office, means you can take all the credit for the action, and be retired when they realize you had a bad idea they can't implement on your nonsense schedule. That 2008 mandate for 40 or 50 mpg cars was supposed to motivate the manufacturers to build to the politicians spec, and possibly try the situation to see if making a law about such things would actually work to push the car makers around to getting them to do whatever you want. Interesting test case, but it failed completely.
