The officers have filed a discrimination lawsuit against the department.
The three officers are military veterans, all with a 100% disability rating from the VA.
The department is alleging they made false claims about their physical limitations to get those plates.
Their attorney says that's not true.
The real issue isn't that they may have lied to get the disabled plates, it's that they're getting big fat disability checks (for life), courtesy of the taxpayers, at the same time they're making good money from their new police jobs. Jobs which will someday provide them with a fat pension, also courtesy of the taxpayers.

it's very likely that they lied to get the plates, and unless they are disabled enough to have earned those plates, then they are bald faced hypocrits who are charged with enforcing a law about people having handicapped plates, who are committing fraud. Well, the fraud might be the issue, and if they have 100% disability according to the VA, they probably commited fraud there, and since they were physically able to make it through the police academy, they proved they aren't very disabled. I've been through, and passed, the police academy, and you have to be physically fit enough to pass the night stick training, the handcuff training, the combat crawl training course, and be able to pass the shooting range course, and get a good enough score on their shooting. Plus the mental ability to pass the learning of the laws, and policy and procedures training, and have the coordination to pass the driving course
