wears a great dress, enjoys hanging out for a photoshoot with a great ol truck? That's marriage material boys. You better find her before I do, I'll charm the hell out of her

reminder that Daily Timewaster is awesome, I check it every day.

I wish I'd been in college / university in my 20s instead of the joining the Navy the weekend after graduating high school. I probably would have met a large number of women, and tried to charm the hell out of several of them, and gotten married to someone wonderful, and had a happy life.
Instead, I was too penniless to give college a try, didn't want to see about 200k in college loans without a responsible plan on what to get a education for. (As in what education, for what career possibility, that would in turn pay off the student loan.)
And so - still single, and finishing up a blog post.

  1. Hi Jesse,
Valentine's Day always makes me feel nostalgic for what might have been had I played
my cards more wisely as a younger man. Bittersweet memories of a young lady who I
should have settled down with instead of fearing the responsibility of marriage and the loss
of my selfish, all important bachelorhood. In later years I never found anyone else that
could fill the void. Now into my 8th decade and with only two cats to share my days with,
thoughts of her still linger vividly despite the passage of time. The fetching lass wearing the
flat cap did spark a special memory today. Too much information, I know....
If anyone cares, that little old pickup truck she is sitting in is a Morris Minor
one quarter ton, manufactured from the early1950's until 1971.
The reason I'm familiar with the little beastie is because during my early boyhood
a carpenter tradesman in my tiny village owned a black one,
Wish I had it in my possession now! Cheers

    1. Too much info? Nope. Just some sharing of memories.
thank you! As I just wrote in reply to another comment:
this reminds me that unless we write down our biography, and stories, every one of them disappears like it never happened once everyone that was there dies. But those stories that are written down, keep that moment from EVER disappearing if there will ever be someone that will read it and learn it. That keeps that moment from ever disappearing, and keeps the people that experienced that moment from ever disappearing. That's how our biographies give us a type of immortality, until everyone and everything that ever knew us has disappeared, we will exist.
Everyone that can be named from history, has an immortality, Pythagoras, Plato, Socrates, Kushim, a Sumerian accountant from Uruk 5000 years ago, Cleopatra, Alexander, Genghis Khan, etc... those who have had their stories preserved, will never be forgotten, and exist forever.
So, tell your stories, write your biography. Exist beyond your years.
When I was about 8, I was at a roller rink, and some girl older than me decided to skate with me to the song "Lady" by the Little River Band (Australian!) and the lyrics were not the only reason that moment was chiseled into my memory, she was BEAUTIFUL.
I have other memories from my early childhood of course, but that one moment, in the spring of 79, is poignant

    2. frankly, I'd love to hear more, and talk more, with you and the other guys that comment often. That's why I made an effort to send Xmas cards to the 40 or so I hear from most.
I hope we pass along some wisdom to younger guys, I have been trying this with a co-worker who is 23 or 24. Nice guy
