The German magazine 'Autobild' drives various cars for 100,000 kilometers and then disassembles them down to the last screw to find signs of wear and weak points. This is brilliant. Why don't Ford, GM, Dodge, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, etc etc do this?

  1. Virtually all manufacturers do this, that's how they know when a part or assembly is overbuilt. They then pare down the parts to save money. There's also a company called Munro that disassembles vehicles, assembles a massive book detailing each part and what each part costs.
