The original 1974 film followed two criminals. Thunderbolt (Eastwood) was an experienced thief while Lightfoot (Bridges) was a young vagabond. The two met when Thunderbolt was pretending to be a preacher and was attacked by an old associate, Red (George Kennedy), who wrongfully believed that he was betrayed by him. As he runs away from his former friend, Lightfoot helps him out by picking him up in a car that he had just stolen.
The pair eventually develop a plan to team up with Red and another old partner of Thunderbolt's, Eddie (Geoffrey Lewis), for a heist. The unlikely team then attempt to rob a bank as chaos ensues.
I liked the movie when I saw it in the theater, but what impresses me the most is more remakes? Have imaginations gotten that stale in the 21st century that spending the money on a remake is the way to go?
ReplyDeleteRemakes are never as good as the originals!
ReplyDeleteI disagree, they aren't OFTEN as good, but some are better. The remakes of King Kong have been far better, and Godzilla too. Some of the remakes of the Disney animated, into the live version, have been better. Jungle Story and Pete's Dragon. Total Recall was better the 2nd time too.
DeleteInvasion of Body Snatchers, 70's remake was better than 50's version but then late 80's version was pure rubbish. Remakes are hit and miss.
Deleteand the original Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger was nothing as good as the new one. There are a lot of ways to improve on a mediocre movie, but yes, a lot of remakes aren't as good as the originals, just not all.
