Hey, I know, I've got a proofreading OCD. It's not something I can make money with, especially now that everyone relies on "spellcheck", but when I want to look up a companies history to see if there's something interesting to learn, or share on the blog, I never think it'll have anything unintentionally funny.
"detailed oriented" headlines a paragraph that ends in "Get the details right"
Is it me? Are they trying to be funny? Trying to hire a proofreader, with this hidden gem of subtlety?
Now, get this, in the paragraph before this, they state, I shit you not "If you drop a ball or make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and most importantly make it right. Take an ownership mindset"
So, here's my opportunity to challenge them on this, and see if they correct it! Ha!
Why? Because in paragraph 5,
"Meeting expectations is for lesser companies; exceed expectations."
and in paragraph 4,
"be true to your word. Do what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it."
and paragraph 1
"Have ideas, opinions, and answers? Great, we’re curious about what they are! Do this by coming from a place of curiosity, not judgment"
and paragraph 2
"Apply your creativity and energy towards developing solutions"
back to Paragraph 3
"You are as much an owner in this company as anyone."
and paragraph 5
"Do the little things, as well as the big things, and blow people away."
And finally, in the "careers" section
"Be intentional in using and receiving words"
I think, and I could be wrong, they are open to hearing about this ironic mistake.
I'm trying to imagine a syntax in which "detailed oriented" would be correct and I just can't, and if it were intentional I would think they'd hide it deeper in the text. I would have to agree that you should call them on it.
ReplyDeleteI emailed them at Info@kchilites.com and here's what I sent:

Not Detail oriented, but, detailed oriented.

So, here's my effort at trying to help your company make a correction on your page https://www.kchilites.com/about/journey
Now, I'm waiting to see if they reply via email, or make a change to that page to correct detailed, to detail. You're right, syntax wise, it's not right.
DeleteI think it is an actual mistake, which is ironic in the context of the paragraph. Let us know if you hear anything back
