1922 tourists at Old Faithful Inn

Architect Robert Reamer, who designed the Old Faithful Inn dining room and Bear Pit Bar at age 29, hired Chicago artist Walter Oehrle (pronounced "early") to come up with a series of sketches that would later be turned into wood carvings.

the Old Faithful Inn

The inn's architect was 29-year-old Robert Reamer, an architect for the Yellowstone Park Company, which was affiliated with the Great Northern Railway. Reamer was hired by Harry W. Child, the president of the Yellowstone Park Company, who had met Reamer in San Diego through mutual acquaintances. Reamer designed the lobby and the initial phase of guest rooms, known as the Old House, which was built in 1903-1904,

The Old Faithful Inn is the largest log hotel in the world; possibly even the largest log building in the world, and located in Yellowstone National Park, with a clear view of the renowned Old Faithful Geyser.

The Inn features a multi-story log lobby, flanked by long frame wings containing guest rooms. With its spectacular log and limb lobby and 500-ton, 85- foot stone fireplace, the inn is a prime example of the "Golden Age" of rustic resort architecture, a style which is also known as National Park Service Rustic.

It is also unique in that it is one of the few log hotels still standing in the United States. It was the first of the great park lodges of the American west. Initial construction was carried out over the winter of 1903-1904, largely using locally-obtained materials including lodgepole pine and rhyolite stone.

An oil furnace exploded in the blacksmith shop located in Yellowstone Park Transportation Company’s repair and maintenance building in March of 1925

The explosion quickly scattered burning fragments all over the shop. Fanned by a strong wind from the south, the fire spread quickly and completely destroyed a large number of park vehicles and the garage in which they were housed as well as machine, paint and top shops, all were destroyed within an hour.

Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab started off as a store clerk across the street from Andrew Carnegie's first steel mill in Braddock PA.

The superintendent, Civil War veteran "Captain" Bill Jones bought his cigars at the store, and the plucky Charlie asked for a job.

He started on the surveying crew and by 1889 had replaced the Captain who was killed in a mill mishap. In another 8yrs he had displaced Henry Clay Frick as President of Carnegie Steel, and then in 1900 brokered the deal between Carnegie and JP Morgan to form US Steel which he then became President of.

Shortly thereafter he bought a controlling interest in then-small Bethlehem Steel and moved over there as President, and soon thereafter (1907) seized on the European process of making large, single-piece I (or H) beams which reaped huge profits and almost certainly fueled the explosion of skyscrapers.

He also built the largest mansion ever built in Manhattan (Riverside, d1949), commissioned a private rail car (extant, in NC), bankrolled a mining town in NV with its own stock exchange bldg (Rhyolite, now a ghost town), and was the head of President Wilson's Emergency Fleet Corp that controlled all shipbuilding during WWI.

Somewhere along the line he bought a large (possibly controlling) interest in Stutz Motors.

"This defendant has shown nothing but utter contempt for the law," they wrote. "He has spent decades lording his power over his victims and the community by demonstrating how unbound by legal limits he feels."

Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, Detective Roger Golubski was always on the lookout for his next victim, someone pretty, poor and Black, someone no one would believe over the word of a white man with a badge

Almost 40 years after prosecutors say his reign of terror began – Golubski faces a criminal trial and life behind bars. His arrest last week brought some relief to the women he’s accused of terrorizing but also served as a reminder of just how long it took for anyone to believe their stories.

Golubski, 69, has pleaded not guilty to six federal civil rights charges of sexually assaulting two victims while acting under color of law.

The youngest of Golubski's accusers was just 13 when she said the detective pulled up to her, flashed his badge and told her to get in the car, she recounted to prosecutors before describing a horrific and violent sexual assault.

Despite her cries and insistence that she was a virgin, Golubski told her to stop being a crybaby and she was old enough to make decisions, prosecutors say.

Afterward came a warning that frightened the girl to the core.

He told her to keep her mouth shut or she could “kiss her sweet little grandmother goodbye,” and he ran the streets so “don’t (mess) with him,” she told prosecutors.

She "felt like she was in a life-or-death situation,” prosecutors wrote.

Golubski went on to sexually assault the girl more than 10 times between 1998 and 2001, frequently threatening to kill her or her grandmother, even once forcing her to dig her own grave at a local cemetery, prosecutors say.

Anyone wonder why some people say "fuck the police" after knowing this rapist was on the job for 40 years, and not a single co-worker ever noticed the word on the street, and asked IA to check it out?

At least one woman complained about Golubski to the department's internal affairs division in 2004 and was told "there was nothing they could do because it was her word against" the detective's, prosecutors say.

SO, IA WAS told about it, and they blue walled up. That's not WTF IA gets paid to do.

So, I'll say it. Fuck the police.

Prosecutors laid out the accounts of nine survivors in court documents but suspect there could be more.

The accusations against Golubski first gained widespread attention in 2017, when a man named Lamont McIntyre was freed after serving 23 years in prison for a 1994 double murder he didn't commit.

McIntyre sued Golubski the following year, accusing the detective of framing McIntyre for the murders when he was just 17 years old. McIntyre's mother, Rosie McIntyre, said Golubski targeted her son because she refused to agree to a long-term sexual arrangement with him after he raped her.

Though some of the women lodged complaints, Golubski faced no consequences from the allegations. His fellow officers – including his own longtime partner – have said they knew nothing about them.

Golubski retired from the Kansas City Police Department in 2010, collecting a full pension, and then worked for another nearby police agency until 2016.

"This defendant has shown nothing but utter contempt for the law," they wrote. "He has spent decades lording his power over his victims and the community by demonstrating how unbound by legal limits he feels."

They cited one survivor's rape.

"Why are you doing this?” she asked Golubski, they say. "(He) responded, 'Because I can.'”

So, I'll say it. Fuck the police.

If you have a problem with me, and not this serial rapist pedophile cop, you go ahead and tell me why you defend him. I'll wait and see if you figure out why you want to think I'm the bad guy for hating a serial rapist pedophile cop

are there any police officers smart enough to pass the academy, but ignorant of what railroad tracks are? And how trains can ONLY move on those? It's not like trains are zigging and zagging through fields, interstates, or highways. So, why did officer Moron park on the tracks?

What you see above, is the cop SUV, on the tracks, between the railroad crossing sign, getting impacted by a train.

here's the video, skip to exactly 5:18 to hear the first train whistle, and see how cops react to knowing they are about to see someone die by train.

the Fort Lupton Police Department is probably hiring right now.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, of Greeley, remained hospitalized Monday with serious bodily injuries sustained in the crash, because a Platteville police officer stopped her car just past a set of railroad tracks and parked the patrol vehicle on the crossing.

Not to one side.... ON the railroad tracks. That's where the big unstoppable object likes to be unstoppable

She was placed in the back of the police vehicle, ON the railroad tracks, as officers were searching her car.

The Fort Lupton Police Department said in a statement. "Within a matter of seconds, the Platteville's police vehicle, which contained the female detainee, was struck by a northbound train. Fort Lupton Officers immediately summoned medical assistance and began life sustaining measures."

The Denver Post reported Monday that the Platteville Police Department had placed one of the officers involved on paid administrative leave. Police Chief Carl Dwyer, in an email to the newspaper, didn't disclose the officer's name and declined to answer other questions about the traffic stop and crash.

The Fort Lupton Police Department is investigating the road rage report, while the Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is looking into the woman's injury while she was in police custody.

Sept 2023, cop was put on probation, you know, in case he puts anyone else into a cop car on train tracks, then he'd go to jail.  https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/sep/17/colorado-train-crash-handcuffed-woman-police-car

Gary Kuchar's collection is coming to the Van Der Brink auction, and he had a hell of a wide variety of cars in his collection

that Mustang above the windshield? NOPE. This collection was picked over before the left overs were listed for auction. Most of them don't run, and you will see a Bobcat moving them for photos. But then, at these prices, you're paying for the rust free bodies, not running cars.

DeSoto Airflow

no info on the engine

has a 400 cu in. So, wtf is that doing in there? But it's a Phoenix, and those are cool

401 AMX Javelin

see the Bobcat? And this seems to be the only Mustang getting sold

Damn. I wish I could afford to buy this Bantam. I'd be so damn happy.

but someone that has always wanted an E Type Jag is going home thrilled!

there's a bunch of other cars, and trucks, and Scouts, etc etc
