the Wright R-3350 proved itself in the B-29, the DC-7, and Lockheed Super Constellation airliner, and this one was restored by aviation expert Patrick Smart.

A three year long restoration of one of two engines recovered from a Constellation for restoration. 

18 cylinder radial in two banks of 9. Displacement of 3,348 in3 (54.86 litre) supercharged, with three turbine recovery units. 

About 3200 HP

  1. Been lucky to see,and hear,the HARS "Connie" in action a couple of times. I don't know about other airlines,but QANTAS used to close all passenger window shades,so they wouldn't become alarmed at the amount of oil smoke and fuel exhaust flame before finally settling into a steady idle! Once witness to a night take off at Avalon Int. airshow in Victoria,Aust. and the exhaust flame show was absolutely awesome! Highly recommended.
