The engine is a GM 292 Inline 6 backed by a 5 speed manual transmission.
Out the back is a 10 bolt dually rear out of an early 90's Ford E450 ambulance with adapters to fit 8 lug wheels.
The front grille is from an early International tractor, the front axle is from a model A ford and the front brakes/hubs are from a mid 90's Dodge ram.
The taillights are from a 59 Cadillac.
Built by high school students in a career and technology high school in Rock Hill SC.
The challenge was to build a hot rod using a mix of parts from different cars. The project was started in 2015 and was finished in 2017.
When Covid hit and the schools were moved to virtual the project was put on hold for almost a year and a half.
We were invited to SEMA by Quake LED to be part of their freakshow builds. We were able to bring the current students of the program out with us to experience SEMA and see some really cool builds and to answer questions.
Carolina STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Education students are preparing for jobs, college, or in the Military, not only a good idea but also key to the success of industry.
I wanted them to know I'll give them free publicity, but their website sucks...
In the red, at the bottom "Sorry, mail server not configured"
they brought another car to SEMA, an AMC Eagle
Hey Jesse, obviously early Beetle body...but,what breed is that big six up front? Chevy...
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I didn't get close enough to ask or learn. DO you really want to know bad enough for me to go back and find out?
DeleteGood morning Jesse, I wanted to give you a little info about the car. The body is a 1967 Beetle that has been chopped and channeled. The engine is a GM 292 Inline 6 backed by a 5 speed manual transmission. Out the back is a 10 bolt dually rear out of an early 90's Ford E450 ambulance with adapters to fit 8 lug wheels. The front grille is from an early International tractor, the front axle is from a model A ford and the front beakes/hubs are from a mid 90's Dodge ram. The taillights are from a 59 cadillac. There are a bunch of other small details as well that you can find if you look at it long enough.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the overall build, it was built by high school students in a career and technology high school in Rock Hill SC. The challenge was to build a hot rod using a mix of parts from different cars. The project was started in 2015 and was finished in 2017, for the most part, only needing some small things. When Covid hit and the schools were moved to virtual the project was put on hold for almost a year and a half. We were invited to show in SEMA by Quake LED (as shown by the stickers on the side) to be part of their freakshow builds. We were able to bring the current students of the program out with us to experience SEMA and see some really cool builds and to answer questions. We had 2 cars out there but the second was way in the corner by the dropstars event, but I won't go into huge detail about that one but just imagine a CRX body, 68 camaro fiberglass tilt nose and a 68 mustang rear taillight panel done gasser style. ok, so, have whoever wrote your website go back and spell "success" correctly. Spellcheck or proof read everything you do. Making small mistakes just kills the great impression you try to make.
