Happy Birthday (next week, if you got a problem with that, move along) to Gary Sinise!

  1. TIME Person of the Year is reserved for dictators and despots.
    Year Choice Lifetime
    1938 Adolf Hitler 1889–1945
    1939 Joseph Stalin 1878–1953
    To name a few.

    1. well, Those and other certainly were chosen, but it's not reserved for dictators and despots, it's just that those people have had the most influence on the years news... I think that's the ... oh hell, I looked it up... Wikipedia says "hat features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year".
"Man of the Year" began in 1927, with Time editors contemplating the news makers of the years. The idea was also an attempt to remedy the editorial embarrassment earlier that year of not having aviator Charles Lindbergh on its cover following his historic trans-Atlantic flight. By the end of the year, it was decided that a cover story featuring Lindbergh as the Man of the Year would serve both purposes.
So, Sinise will probably never be selected, as his achievements have occurred over decades and not affected a single year as much as notorious people.
Sadly, he probably won't get the recognition he deserves on a national scale... maybe a humanitarian award would be in order?
I'm not sure... the Humanitarian Service Medal maybe?

  2. If nothing else Jesse, at least that. Mr. Sinise has done so much to help our veterans and deserves something.
