The John Delorean / Peter Epsteen / Nancy Sinatra Firebird, that had to sit in the garage because it was a current year model and Pontiac wasn't sponsoring her

“I asked my friend Peter Epsteen, who owned a Pontiac dealership in Palm Springs, if he would lend me a new Firebird to use in the filming.

He arranged a meeting with John DeLorean who was then the head of Pontiac. John had a one-of-a-kind pink convertible made just for me.

As it turned out, I was not permitted to use it because it was a current product and they were not sponsoring the show. So that beautiful car sits in my garage as I walk to my ’57 T-Bird in the first scene. The good news is that John gave me the Firebird!”

And this is all added to the previous post about her music video with the T Bird: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/11/nancy-is-taking-her-t-bird-and-getting.html

  1. The pink Firebird was returned to Pontiac Motor. Nancy told me that she had decided to use her own 57 Thunderbird for the series. I saw the car in the Reliability Garage when it and a yellow one sat side by side in 1968.. Pontiac only loaned the car and did not give it to her.
