This 1966 Ford Mustang Prototype purchased was from Ben Smith after he left Ford. It's 1 of 3 hardtop convertibles built by Ben Smith, the engineer at Ford behind 1957 to 1959 Ford Skyliner retractable hardtops.
Ford wanted to test the concept on the Mustang. But when it could not be motorized because of the technology of the day the project was abandoned by Ford. Smith went on to sell kits to turn coupes into convertibles.
