Seriously, I saw one of these vans this morning on the way to work here in Melbourne! I've never seen one in the flesh before. It was white too, but without side windows on Historic registration plates.
From the end of World War II until 1967, France had on its metropolitan territory several military bases used by its Western NATO allies, mainly by the armed forces of the United States which had a total of 187 complexes in 1967. They were closed or surrendered to the French army after General de Gaulle's decision to withdraw France from the integrated military command on March 7, 1966. The total withdrawal of NATO forces was effective during the year 1967. rare document because the Americans used to import everything from the USA including food and their supermarket system on military bases.
