Spotted that, and no one else noticed!

Automotive business plates, 1954-1970

Transporters are either in the business of moving or delivering vehicles, or in a business where moving or delivering vehicles is incidental to the primary activity. These plates allowed them to drive otherwise unregistered vehicles on the street rather than have to load them onto a truck or trailer. A typical application would be for driving freshly-imported vehicles from the docks to a storage lot a short distance away. Tied to the back...I was looking at this last night!
Tied to the back of the Mustang is the front corner of Bob McLean's GT40. In this one you can recognize the decals on the nose.
https://revslib.stanford.edu/catalog/gf019qt3120

The link below has an image of the crash and shows that piece leaving the car. The wheel in the air was the spare carried under the front clip.
http://www.sportscardigest.com/monster-gator-sebring-raceway/

Mr Rosenthall does not seem happy with this guy, who looks to beat a hasty retreat, judging by the series of images. Dashing out with a piece of a fatal wreck gets right up his nose.

Heres Bob pre race Sebring '66.
http://www.joescorvairgarage.com/index.php/category/bob-mclean-tribute/
while here check out the autographed page.

And post crash. The missing front left corner in the picture, is here on the Mustang.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/smuckatelli/25759947121/in/photostream/Burkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00384997392394742133noreply@blogger.com
