standing ovation for LVPD Officer Deb Rinkovsky, who was patrolling near Charleston and Decatur boulevards in November when she saw a person in a motorized wheelchair being splashed by passing cars, and stopped to help (finally a cool cop!)

Rinkovsky stepped into the rain and offered the person her own poncho in a moment that a bystander captured in a photograph.

  1. The one of whom we hear or read little are the police officers who go beyond the call of duty. Wonderful that you bring her story to us.

    1. that is right, but so few do. And I have been looking fotr them for 19 years, and have posted every cop story I have ever come across. That's how few II have found. Maine St trooper Stephen Murray is still the gold standard for cool under fire professional awesomeness, https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2014/10/reminder-of-how-cops-can-act.html , and there was an incredible cop I posted, that distracted a kid while it's dead parents were getting last rights after a car crash the kid survived. Other than those two, damn few have ever hit the high mark. Some are very damn cool though, like the one that stopped to feed the homeless, and the one that helped the homeless in the wheelchair across the street. I remember some of the one's I've posted. And Frank Serpico. Just exactly how few incredible cops are, can be demonstrated by how many I know by name, 2.
Anyway, thanks for appreciating the cool cops as much as I do.
By the way, no one has ever sent me a story about a great cop, that I can recall. Damn shame
