Perth Australia has a innovative speed bump mechanism around Curtin University campus... Actibump, a gutter that adjusts to the speeding car's velocity, and drops out
Oh? I didn’t know that but it makes sense because they’re both in a sense outlier states. Norway stayed out of the EU because they knew membership would mean a significant chunk of their oil & gas revenue ending up in the hands (and pockets) of French politicians and Western Australia is a bit like a foreign country. In 1933, the WA population in a referendum voted to secede from the Commonwealth of Australia (some 66% voting “yes” in a turn-out of 92%) yet in the simultaneous state general election (held on the same day in the same polling booths!), elected a government opposed to secession. Urban demographers list Perth as the world’s most isolated city, a status which much pleases the locals.
I could see that being popular with snow plow drivers around here. Although I expect it would just stop functioning in snowy weather. I wonder how that works in Norway?
In Norway, such things are Flink Fartsdumper (Smart Speed bump).
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read, I believe that's the only other place they've been installed

ReplyDeletei read through at least 3 articles about it, and that's what one of them said, links at the bottom of the post of course, as always.
