this is the Tarf made by Piero Taruffi before the tails were added
is what it looks like with good photography instead of very low early video recordings
and the Rolligon!
The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a-pumpin'
And the hubcaps all gleam
When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
It's like a disease son
I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal
Told my girl I have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks sayin' this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four-wheeled friends now
When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruisin' in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run-of-the-mill talk jive
I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
String-back gloves in my automolove!

Thanks Mate, that was brilliant, never seen it before. Think you were a bit early and me a bit late for the great Queen. Last car seen has memories for me as a kid. Donald Campbell's BlueBird, which set and I think, still holds land speed record for wheel driven vehicles. Set on my South Australia's Lake Eyre in 1964 if memory serves.
ReplyDeleteI was born in 71, and avidly listening to all the music on the radio, and the stuff I was listening to is still my favorite, the Beatles, Wings, Beach Boys, southern rock, and Frampton, Nugent, Bob Segar, Queen, Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs... I got hooked on music, and the biggest mistake my mom (Dad split when I was 2 or 3, went out for smokes and beer, never came back) made was not getting me an acoustic guitar, because it's 50 years later, and I've never quit enjoying music daily. All through the 80s, I was watching MTV, and listening to American Top 40 with Kasey Kasem every week.
DeleteI've heard the song, but never seen the video. There's a lot of great old cars and action in it. Have you heard their song "Bicycle Race"? I don't think Freddie cared very much about the bike riders in this video.

Of course I've heard Bicycle Race, it's one of their famous ones. Never saw the video though, what a pointless waste of video. They couldn't broadcast it, and I'm surprised You Tube even plays it. I wasn't aware tits and ass were allowed on You Tube.
DeleteQueen was incredible at crafting a song, even this one, as brief as it is, is well crafted, though not lyrically challenging....
What they did with Bohemian Rhapsody was an amazing thing, it's a masterpiece. Hell, no one but classical musicians even know what a musical rhapsody is, or it's musical parameters
I think I've heard that "A Night at the Opera" was the most expensive album to be recorded at that point, because of all of the multi-track recording for the harmonies. I appreciate things like that in music more than I used to.
