Update, and serious Amazing... This is a Von Dutch piece... and the incredible series of coincidences were just what it took to get it identified - I'm gobsmacked

Here's the scoop!

Doug, god bless ya, knows George Bushmaster Schrieber, and emailed him to ask about this mask....

and here is the reply: (sit down for this!)

DOUG!
MY DEIST MASK!!! WHEN I WENT TO VON DUTCH"S HOUSE TO PICK UP MY HELMET, I HAD THE "DUTCHMAN" PAINT THE MONSTER FACE ON THE MASK!!! I WORE IT ONCE AT THE BEACH AND IT DIDN'T WORK AS THE CANOPY ON THE "FANG" HAD NO BREEZE THROUGH IT ON THE LINE AND I COULDN'T BREATHE---GOT ONE OF THE NEW "SIMPSONS" MASKS WITH FILTERS AS THE CANOPY WAS " AIR--NEGATIVE" !!! THANX AND THE BUSHMASTER STILL LUVS YA " !!!

So... is that not the most unreal thing of the year? A real no shit story from the only guy alive to know the facts, and only the strangest of coincidences put all the pieces in place for us to learn that this... is a Von Dutch piece of art... that no one knew of, or is alive to recall, except one guy!

So, my hat's off to Doug and George for sharing some incredible drag racing history with us!

  3. Bushmaster and I go back 51 years and I must say my life has been much more colorful because of him. Nobody has better drag racing stories than George and they're all true. I wish I had is energy. He and Big Daddy Roth's stories are endless. George used to go on tour with the "Yellow Fang" (after it was painted a wild psychedelic metalflake multi-colored over-the-top deal) and sometimes he'd go alone. He's ask people who were spectators if they thought they could follow his instructions driving his old pickup truck to push him for the "fire-up". I can't imagine being strapped in the "Fang" and having some total stranger behind you never before driving a fire-up push vehicle before. But that's one of George's many stories. He wanted to race and if he had to go alone, he would figure out a way to get it done. When I was 17 he and I went to a grocery store in Eugene Oregon and he bought a case of beer, a case of tomato juice and a blanket. That's it! I was a dumbass kid out of high school for a week for the trip and just stood there with my mouth open. That's when I learned how good beer could be with some tomato juice in it. We were housed at the drag strip offices for the Balboa Park Drag Strip in Eugene when the "Fang" was in a three day indoor car show, so we all had nothing to do (the Early Times Car Club members were who I was with). That night two guys got plastered and got in a fist fight in the mud in the rain and George locked the door and left them out there for awhile until they cooled off. The night before one guy in a cherry Model A roadster hot rod went off the highway in the rain and demolished the car and broke the driver's ribs. We put the wrecked hot rod in the car show and went to work tearing it apart with George's help while the paying spectators watched and some even offered to go get parts for us. Even real Model A body parts. Man.....I've got stories......and the photos to prove most of them....we probably need to "talk" Jesse....
